Detoxification & Eliminationn

"Everyday we wash, shower and clean our bodies on the outside, but what about the inside?" asks Martin, "Do we ever think about what is going on inside our bodies? Every so often we get our cars cleaned and valeted inside and out, so why not do the same with our bodies?"

We all face a constant assault on our bodies from the environment, from the foods that we eat and the water that we drink. The pollution and toxins from the atmosphere and in the air that we breathe are absorbed into our bodies through the pores of our skin and the lungs. With today's modern farming techniques and food processing, the foods that we eat are full of pesticides, growth hormones and antibiotics while having excess salt, sugar and unhealthy fats. A primary cause of illness is the accumulation of toxins, undigested and fermented foods and waste products that are all retained in the body which create an acid environment and subsequently, disease.

"The body is designed to support optimal function and given the proper environment it will return to its normal healthy state and heal itself" affirms Martin, " That is why it is important to create and maintain a clean and healthy colon and keep the body alkaline."

In this section of the book, Martin describes in more detail how the body can be detoxified by Colonic Irrigation, Enemas and by eliminating acid and Candida forming foods from our diet while replacing them with more alkalizing foods.

"Cleansing my body internally was the first step in the physical healing process." says Martin, "I was amazed at how quickly I saw and felt the results of the enemas. Within a matter of days I felt lighter, had more energy and noticed that my skin was becoming clearer."

"We cannot wrap ourselves in cotton wool" he continues, "and we will always absorb toxins into our bodies, so it is important to continually cleanse internally by frequent enemas  while maintaining a healthy alkaline diet"

Diet & Nutrition

There are many diets which are designed to heal disease but why did he choose a vegan diet of raw living foods? "It's simple," answers Martin, "Our bodies were never designed to digest cooked foods which are acid forming, nor were they designed to digest meat and animal products. Cooking food destroys most of the vitamins, minerals and the enzymes that naturally exist in vegetables that aid digestion. By eating enzyme rich raw living foods in the correct combinations, the body is extracting and digesting the maximum amount of nutrition. I eat only fresh, raw, organic produce and plenty of sprouts which can contain up to a hundred times more nutrition than the fully grown vegetables.

Wheatgrass juice and green vegetable juices are also a key feature of the diet. "Wheatgrass is a blood purifier, cleanser, and detoxifier. It contains chlorophyll, which helps carry oxygen to every cell in your body. Oxygen in the body's cells helps fight off

disease, harmful bacteria, and cancer". The Green juices are alkalizing and packed with vitamins, minerals and nutrients. Martin goes on to explain in the book the importance of the Acid/Alkaline balance in the body and lists what not to eat, why not and what should be eaten and the reasons why.

But isn't the diet boring and lacking in things like protein and calcium that you get from meat and dairy products?

"Not at all" is his answer. "It may be raw and vegan but it's amazing what recipes can be created with the right knowledge, equipment and imagination."

 

 

"And it's a myth that you need to drink milk to have healthy bones. If you eat enough of the right vegetables and exercise with weights regularly, you will get plenty of protein and calcium and have strong, healthy bones"

"Of course, I do take an array of nutritional supplements that aid immune support and internal cleanse plus certain other supplements for their anti-cancer properties such as Selenium and Lycopene. I then added The Pfeiffer Protocol,  an individually tailored program of herbs, glyconutrients, minerals and vitamins which was developed in Switzerland specifically for hormone refractory Prostate Cancer."

"Combined, the juices, raw living foods and supplements detox and cleanse internally while delivering maximum nutrition to the cells which boost and arm the immune system to attack the cancer cells".

Exercise

Physical exercise is an integral part of the program. Without exercise, the benefits of the diet can lose up to 75% of its effectiveness. "Physical activity increases the movement of blood and stimulates the lymph system which increases the delivery of oxygen to every cell and tissue in the body but also aids the removal of toxins" says Martin. "With more oxygen in the system, the body uses food far more efficiently resulting in less waste, increased energy and more crucially, it supports immune response which minimizes and even eliminates  illnesses and disease."

The exercise program involves aerobic, stretching and resistance training. "The aerobic exercise is important for increasing oxygen intake and for promoting cardiovascular and circulatory health as well as improving the process of elimination while maximizing the utilization of nutrients from the food," explains Martin, " Resistance training is vital for toning and building muscle mass but it is the stretching routines which have powerful healing effects".

"Eastern exercises such as Yoga and Chi Gong are aimed at harnessing  the healing effects of physical exercise through breathing, meditation and movement whereas our exercise systems in the west have their foundation in improving sporting fitness and performance"

    

Martin describes in the book his regimes in detail, how he combines both eastern and western exercise modalities and integrates them into his daily routine and explains in more depth the healing and health benefits. "Physical activity does not just affect the body," he says, "it also has benefits for the mind by delivering more oxygen to the brain which can lift the mood and invigorate one's spirits"

Acupuncture

Chinese medicine has been in existence for some five thousand years. According to the ancient Chinese doctors, when a person is sick, the flow of Chi (life energy) in the body becomes weak or excessive and creates imbalance. Acupuncture is one of the four main branches of Chinese medicine and is designed  to restore balance and maintain the proper flow of Chi.

"Acupuncture is viewed with scepticism by many in the west but it has real and lasting effects, " declares Martin, "It has been an integral part of my healing along with other Chinese practices such as massage and reflexology"

"That is the fantastic thing about eastern medicine and exercise! It's specific purpose is to reinvigorate, regain and maintain health through exercises that do not strain the body but which leave you in a state of well-being"
